Terga Recursos successfully
implemented handheld use for the first time in the National Forest Inventory work
in Mexico.
Six supervision crews used
handheld computers with keyboards (CC) in various regions of
Mexico. This is the first time that handhelds are used in a
national forest inventory in Mexico.
Terga Recursos designed a
database application for use with the handhelds using EASYDC,
which is software that was developed in Canada. This application
was specifically built to facilitate data entry by the crews
directly in the field.
An interface in
Microsoft Access was also built to migrate the data into the
data entry client developed by CONAFOR, which included strict
validations.
This system effectively reduced
the time needed to deliver the information to CONAFOR and
increased data quality by optimizing its processing.
