from the companies we have partnered with, to form teams that
meet the specific needs of each project.
Our history
Terga Recursos was founded in September, 2004 in the city of
Guadalajara, in western Mexico, as a result of the combined
effort of a team of Canadian professionals from
Atticus Environmental Services Ltd. and
Whitewoods
Inc. and their Mexican associates to offer consulting services
in environmental resources,
forest inventories and software development for
rugged field computers at competitive prices.
In January 2009 we expanded our operations to Morelia, in
Michoacán where we opened a branch office.
Our
main clients and projects
We have worked since 2004 as a quality firm to provide
supervision and quality assurance services for
the National Forest Inventory Project
implemented by the National Forest Commission in Mexico
(CONAFOR). This required direct sampling of about 10% of
the plots directly in the field for comparison and working
together with the sampling crews to assure they followed uniform
sampling procedures.
In 2009 we developed and implemented the software that runs in
rugged handheld computers to collect the valuable information of
the National Forest Inventory in Mexico
directly in the field. This
project required training of technical representatives of the
sampling companies, a telephone and web-based support service,
and technology transfer to CONAFOR.
Lkewise, this year we provided the Government of Guanajuato carbon
sequestration assessment for the Temascatío Reserve, looking for
ways to help finance its operation. Apart from the carbon
calculations and final recommendations, this project required a
thorough sampling plan from the calculation of sample size, to
the actual sampling of the various carbon pools and even
destructive sampling.
